The big league
In 1953, Bish Tyson, a former player with the Negro League, observed me practicing on the field. He was overwhelmed by my athletic abilities. He said that I was a great player and suggested that I play professional baseball. He introduced me to Bunny Downs, Manager of the Indianapolis Clowns. After tryout, I made the team.
While pitching my first game, a batter on the opposing team yelled to me, "What makes you think you can strike a batter out' Why you aren't any larger than a peanut!" From that day, the 100 pound baseball player had the nickname, "Peanut."
I played professional baseball for three seasons, during this time, I won 33 games and lost 8.
