JHANSI KI RANI
Jhansi ki Rani was a brave women that fought for freedom. She was born on November 19,1828. She lived in Bithur. Her name full name was Manikarnika. When Manu was 11 they were deciding to get her married. In May 1842 she got married. She was 12 years old. In 1851 Lakshamibai gave birth to a son.
But three months later the child died. The Indian prince was plunged in greif and despair. People were saying that the queen was going to adopt a son. The adoption took place on November 19,1853. A day later the prince died. The Queen Jhansi was thinking about the people she had it all in her hands. So the queen devoted herself to the Efficient Administration. She sent a letter to the governer for the recoginition other adopted son.
But the governer general rejected the petition. British goverment had decided to take the state of Jhansi under it's wing's. But Queen did not give up. She said an envoy to London with an appeal. But the Queen said I will not obey them. British was coming unpopular. The British was forcing people to become Christians. On May 10,1857 the garrison of meerut openly revolted, shot their officers and released imprisoned comrades. They went to Delhi. Delhi became the headquarters of the Nationalist Soldiers. The soldiers were marching on to Jhansi.
The british ran to the queen and begged for help. The british were powerless. People said lets leave and let the queen rule by herself. She called all her people for a conference. She wanted to know who should rule Jhansi. So people said she should rule Jhansi forever. Everybody was waiting for a desicion and the queen won. The first challenge was a rule that came from Sadashiv Rao, a distant nephew of the late prince. The queen sent her troops against him and defeated him in a single encounter.
The prince of Datia and Orcha,two neighbors states tried to wrest Jhansi from the queen but her troops defeated them. People from Jhansi started attacking from the other people didn't know. People from Jhansi were dieing. The queen told them what to do they routed there enemy's. They won. There was sad news from Delhi. The British captured Delhi. Emporers sons got shot and he got sent to jail. Another fight was aboot to begin.
The queen wanted a lot of guns so they could fight the british. They were thinking of having a fire bridge. She wanted the woman and the men to fight. The women were learning to be troopers and gunners and taught to ride shoot and fence and care of wounded. But british still wanted to attack Jhansi. The british captured 24 guns and 3,00,000 dollars. Everybody wanted to fight from Jhansi. 5 days the british guns pounded day and night. The british two 24 pounders and bombards. Everybody didn't still give up.
On April 3,1858 the british started coming in the fort. The british fought with guns and the Jhansi people fought with swords. The queen was sick but she still came and sat on a horse and with a sword. The british was forced to take over. The british's goal was to teach a lesson to the Indian Jhansi and set a example so that none will again dare to challenge them. The queen told the troops what to do they had to do exercises every morning and there should be military drill. A person from Nawab arrived with 2,000 cavalry guns and infantly. The Jhansi was in confusion when they were having the war. The queen attacked like a tiger with her horse. The british took over of Kalpi on May 24,1858. The british began to attack and the Jhansi was not even ready. So she went and fought and didn't lose hope. The queen was fatally wounded. The people took over her to a safe place. When she was in a safe place she said the days of freedom shall soon dawn. So ended the life of India's greatest heroine in the struggle for freedom.
